About Me
My name is Stan Hyt and I’m running for the position of Sheriff of Nye County. I have a bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from San Diego State University. I have over 30 years experience as a Police Officer and Sergeant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. I’m married to my lovely wife Danette of 26 years. I have two children and two grandsons. I am a proud Christian that has given my life to Jesus Christ. I am so proud that our Country and our Constitution together were formed by God fearing forefathers using biblical principals to form our nation.
I’m a Constitutionalist, our Constitution is what defines our Republic and makes us unique from every other country in the world. The Constitution defines our civil liberties which we in the Nye County Sheriff’s Office are sworn to defend.
I’m a patriot. I believe the United States is the greatest Nation in the world, and I believe in our Military and our Law Enforcement which is in place to protect our Constitutional Civil Liberties.
Finally, I’m a Conservative, and I believe in traditional American values, “A days work for a days pay”, and a man is a man and a woman is a woman.

Crime & Public Safety
- Reduce rising crime rates in Nye County
- Prevent Nye County from becoming a sanctuary jurisdiction
- Target repeat offenders
- Strengthen collaboration with the District Attorney
- Enforce consequences for both major and minor crimes
Drug Enforcement &
Narcotics Control
- Identify and disrupt drug supply sources
- Track how narcotics enter Nye County
- Increase community reporting and involvement
- Utilize narcotics detection dogs (budget permitting)
Addressing Homelessness Realistically
- Establish a Sheriff’s Office task force
- Form a parallel citizen advisory group
- Collaborate with civic leaders, the DA, and business leaders
- Address root causes including addiction and mental illness
Restoring Leadership & Morale
- Restore morale within the Sheriff’s Office
- Support and empower line deputies
- Improve retention of personnel
- Promote honor, integrity, and professionalism
Community Engagement
& Transparency
- Launch a “First Tuesday” community program
- Provide monthly open access to the Sheriff and Deputies
- Create direct communication channels
- Strengthen trust between residents and law enforcement
